With 40 days to go and already 65 J/70 teams have confirmed their registration for the first ISAF-recognised European Championship for this class. It is being organised by the YCM from 12th to 17th October 2015 in collaboration with the J/70 Monaco Class Association, presided by Jacopo Carrain.
In total more than 75 boats representing 11 nations are expected, not counting the Mexican team of Julian Fernandez, World Champion title holder who has confirmed his participation. Given the high level, international umpires will officiate throughout the week which will be attended by Nino Shmueli, Vice-President of the ISAF's Race Committee.
A flagship series for the YCM, there will be no less than 17 boats on the start from Monaco - and they are not there as extras! Having already competed in the World Championship at La Rochelle in July, our members continue their preparation 9th to 12th September in Riva del Garde, the final stage in the Italian Championship.
During the championship the J/70 Monaco Class Association and the YCM want to support the Lenval Foundation, which among other projects works with the paediatric department at the Princess Grace Hospital (Monaco) to assist their actions for sick children. They are counting on the generosity of all the participants and other donations to raise the funds.
