Young sailors will enjoy a fun filled celebration of sailing at Horning Sailing Club's (HSC) Junior Regatta and RYA OnBoard Festival on 12 September 2015.
The event, held on the River Bure in front of the clubhouse, is the culmination of training for the year. It is always a popular day of games and racing, with many of the 50-60 young people who train weekly at HSC expected to take part.
The day will include informal, short races for the RYA OnBoard fleets of less experienced sailors, while the 'Gold' fleet will take part in more serious racing.
Holly Hancock, RYA sailing development officer, says: "The young people attending will include those who have learnt to sail through RYA OnBoard sessions, including the cubs, scouts & local schools, and we're looking forward to a fun-filled, hectic and enjoyable day."
A barbecue and buffet after sailing will round off a memorable day.
Run by the RYA, OnBoard is a grass roots programme which introduces sailing and windsurfing to young people aged 8 to 18, through schools, youth groups and training centres.
Over a ten year period OnBoard has introduced more than 500,000 children to sailing and windsurfing in the UK, converting over 10% of them into regular participants.
