PA Consulting Allen RS Feva Worlds in Travemünde, Germany - Day 4

by Frances Peters 23 Jul 2015 21:24 BST 18-24 July 2015

Another day in sunny Travemunde at the 2015 PA Consulting Allen RS Feva World Championships, another day closer to crowning this year's World Champion! A light morning saw a short delay on shore while the race committee waited for the wind to stabilise across the course.

Race 1 was another light and tactical one; a mental game and a difficult transition after a morning delay. Ian Bird and Jake Hardman mastered the conditions quickly, kicking off with a 1st place.

Lithuanian team, Simonas Jersovas and Vejas Strelciunas continued their consistent week, posting a 2nd and Dutch team, Max Groen and Fetze Andringa were hot on the chase, taking a 4th. Italian teammates, Giacomo Giambarda & Daniele Minoni and Mattia Zinetti & Davide Carbonelli battled each other around the course to finish 6th and 7th respectively.

The breeze remained flaky and another race went ahead in the afternoon sun. It was a race for the Brits as they filled the top four spots with brothers, Henry and Rupert Jameson taking the gun. Giambarda & Minoni (ITA) finished well in the mix, taking a 5th and breaking into the top 10 overall.

Chasing the Italians in the final race of the day were Jaroslav Kermac and Petr Costal of the Czech Republic, who finished 6th.

Only 2 races were completed today and points remain close going into the final day of racing. There's a British battle at the top, and with only 5 points separating the top 4 boats, the pressure is on!

British National Champions, the Armstrong brothers are at the top of the leaderboard overnight, while reigning European Champions, Jack Lucas and Lewis Marshall are in 3rd place, only ahead of the Jameson brothers on tiebreak. Meanwhile the Nations Cup Champions of earlier this week, Jersovas and Strelciunas of Lithuania chase in 5th place ahead of Italians, Zinetti & Carbonelli and Swedish, Oscar Andersson and Rebecca Flohr.

The chase is on tomorrow, and it's looking like another light one.
