What is usually a quiet field bordering the promenade overlooking the Baltic in Travemünde, Germany has been transformed into a hive of activity as sailors eagerly await the opening of the PA Consulting Allen RS Feva World Championships 2015. The event will be taking place alongside the notorious Travemünde Woche, which exhibits racing of around 25 classes.

Around 330 sailors from 19 countries as far afield as New Zealand, USA and Canada have been busy registering their entries, preparing their boats and setting up camp surrounding the central hub.

The sun has been shining and the festival has begun just along the promenade from the boat park with live music, party tents and market stalls selling all kinds of international foods and keepsakes. Not to mention something that seems to have been a particular hit with sailors, often exclaimed in a particularly enthusiastic manner, "The Haribo tent!".

In the boat park, in between registration and focussed on the water training sessions, highly competitive games of football and volleyball have been almost constantly underway between nations. Pitches have taken pole position in the campsite and spectators have been welcome and frequent but advised not to get in the way of play! Meanwhile flags are flying, music is playing and the atmosphere is fantastic.

Last night saw the opening ceremony when sailors paraded along the seafront in their teams carrying national flags. We are now just hours away from the start of the first race and the title of PA Consulting Allen RS Feva World Champion 2015 is up for the taking. Boats will embark on two days of qualifying racing in seeded flights, before splitting into Gold, Silver and Bronze fleets in time for Wednesday. On this day racing will be streamed to spectators with live commentary and video footage to catch all the blow by blow action.

The first race is scheduled to kick off at 11:00 today. Racing will be tracked using GPS technology each day and will be available to follow each day.

Don't forget to tune in on Wednesday for the live video footage. It will be the first time this has been done at an RS Feva World Championships and it's set to provide an exciting insight into the intricate aspects of the race course.
