Kielder Water Sailing Club hosted the final event of this year's Trident-UK North East Youth Travellers.

Despite the 35 knot winds 4 young sailors dared to go out and all managed to complete a 30 minute race in the challenging conditions with Ben Russell from Kielder winning in an Optimist.

Big thanks must go to Steve the race officer and the rescue crew for ensuring the event still took place and the galley for warming us up afterwards.

Kielder NEYTS event results:

1st Ben Russell - Optimist
2nd Harry Myers - Optimist
3rd Luke Stewart - Optimist
4th Adam Billany - 2.4mR

The overall series has seen some terrific racing with the top 3 very close to each other on points but eventually having won and qualified for the overall series on the last day it was Ben Russell of Kielder Water Sailing Club who took 1st place overall and 1st Rookie.

Big thanks must go out to the parents for supporting the sailors by taking them to the event and Trident UK for their continued sponsorship.

Well attended, despite the lower than usual water level Kielder Water Reservoir was slightly depleted after the hot summer, but with around 40m depth still to play with, the only consequence was the queue on the slipway as cautious boat owners avoided the newly-revealed rocky landscape.
