Hollowell Sailing Club 2015 Junior Windsurfing

Windsurfing at Hollowell Sailing Club has weathered the test of time. In 1981, fifteen years after opening as a sailing club, the Sailboard Fleet was introduced in response to increasing popularity and demand. Just ten years later, by 1991, sailboarders accounted for almost half of the club's membership. Current club member and trustee at Hollowell Sailing Club, Mike Playle set the standard having won the 1982 Sea Panther National Championships and today continues to challenge the best in the fleet and from further afield.

Children aged from 8-18 years can take part in this year's sailboards training over three days from Monday 27 July to Wednesday 29 July 2015. The course will cater for all juniors from beginners to more experienced.

The course is delivered by Mike Playle and accompanied by RYA qualified instructor Robin McAllister, one of Hollowell Sailing Club's top under 18s young windsurfers and runs from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Costs £65 for members and £110 for non-members. Refreshments are available from our galley although those taking part bring their own lunches. Ideal clothing will include a wetsuit and wetboots or warm dry clothes and certainly a complete change of clothing. Buoyancy aids can be hired during the course and boards are provided. Camping by arrangement. Following the course juniors will be able to sail to a point on the water and return to where they started in light winds. They will be able to sail on all points of sailing in light winds, tacking and gybing. All queries to Nicola Wilkinson on Tel: 07751 479361.
