A year on from its re-launch in June 2014 the RYA Joining Point scheme that rewards clubs and centres for promoting the benefits of RYA membership is going from strength to strength.
"We're really pleased with how successful the Joining Point scheme has been since the re-launch. The scheme provides a quick and easy way for clubs, training centres and marinas to encourage their members and customers to join the RYA and experience the many great benefits of membership", commented RYA Membership Development Manager, Conor Swift.
"RYA Joining Points have done some fantastic work over the last year to promote RYA membership to their members and customers whilst helping to explain the importance of supporting the RYA and all the work it does on behalf of all recreational boating", Conor added.
To date the Joining Point scheme has seen clubs, centres and marine organisations introduce over 10,000 new members to the benefits of RYA membership, with an additional 130 clubs, centres, marine organisations signing up in the last year introducing nearly 1,000 new members.
Peter Barnard MBE, Owner/Principal of Lincolnshire Boat Training Services Ltd, who have been a Joining Point since 2010 commented: "We at Lincolnshire Boat Training Services first signed up as an RYA Joining Point to allow our customers to get free ICC's as well as receiving the benefits of RYA Membership.
"From these early days we are now delighted that our customers can quickly and easily join the RYA by using links on our own and the RYA E-Learning websites. Any monies that we make from this project helps fund our RYA Interactive Site Annual fee."
Peter May, Director of Bisham Abbey Sailing & Navigation School added: "We have always been an active supporter of the RYA Joining Point system and have seen a general increase in the number of our customers taking up membership as offers become more relevant to the potential member, as well as a number of our customers taking advantage of the free issue licences membership offers.
"Being part of the Joining Point scheme really does encourage us to promote the RYA.
I'd definitely encourage others to sign up as RYA Joining Points because it creates a stronger tie between the centre and the RYA. It's super easy to sign people up... and it's really easy to put your joining code on the membership documents to ensure that the RYA know where the members are coming from, and then the RYA put the Joining Point income straight in to your bank account."
On registration as an RYA Joining Point, organisations receive a Joining Point Pack containing everything they need to promote RYA membership to their members and customers, explaining the importance of supporting the RYA and all the work it does on behalf of the recreational boating public, and the numerous membership benefits, rewards and services available.
Each Joining Point pack provides the club or centre with the possibility of earning up to £1,000 in commission depending upon the number of members signed up. Commission is paid on a quarterly basis and the amount depends upon the type of membership signed up to.
Packs contain:
- A3 and A4 posters
- Membership Leaflets containing a pre-paid post application form, pre-printed with your Joining Point reference number
- Quality leaflet holders
- Promotional stickers
- "How to" Joining Point Swatch containing everything there is to know about RYA membership and Joining Point
