The first RS Aero Eurocup will take place in Barcelona © RS Sailing
We are very excited to be able to declare entry for the first ever RS Aerocup officially open! At the end of October 2015, RS Aero sailors from around the world will come together to descend upon the historic city of Barcelona.
Three days of international racing will take place from 30th October - 1st November and will be preceded by a 'Lift-Off' day after their raging success in the UK. If you fancy yourself a bit of last minute training before taking to the start line or are just after a few handy hints and tips, tick the box on the entry form and come along on Thursday 29th October. Coaching will be run by our very own Aero Class Manager, Peter Barton and will be assisted by RS Sailing's Frances Peters.
No trip to Spain would be complete without an evening dedicated to a traditional tapas meal and the obligatory 'chore' of trialling all the local beers. With that in mind we have reserved space at a tapas restaurant in town for the Saturday evening. Just to whet your appetitie, the menu can be viewed here. Be sure to sign up for this on the entry form, but please note that for logistical reasons we require all reservations for the dinner and Lift-Off day to be made via your online entry by 30th September 2015.
For UK boats, there will be limited spaces available on a convoy organised by the RS Aero UK Class Association if you'd rather eliminate some of the stresses of boat transport, meanwhile for sailors outside of the UK, RS Sailing will be providing a number of charter boats. The option to register interest for both opportunities has been made available on the online entry form. Due to hot demand and limited availability of charter boats and spots on the trailer, we advise you get in there quick and enter here. You'll also be rewarded for being quick off the mark with an early entry discount of €15 until 31st August 2015.
The event will be run from the Barcelona International Sailing Centre (BISC) and racing will take place in the waters that were home to the 1992 Olympics. The club offers plenty of space and excellent facilities, including some basic accommodation. If you are interested in staying on site, it is advisable to get in there quickly to avoid disappointment. For more details on the rooms and to book, click here. Alternatively, such an iconic European city as Barcelona offers plenty of accommodation nearby. Have a look here for availability on local hotels and apartments.
For any information on the event, check the Notice of Race which is now available here, or for other enquiries please contact Frances Peters. Get signed up for the event here, bring the family along and make sure you're part of the first ever RS Aerocup. It's bound to be one not to be missed and we'll look forward to welcoming you to Barcelona in just a few months!
