Get Racing at Draycote Water Sailing Club - Event 3

After a poor forecast and appalling weather overnight, the numbers were down for the third Get Racing session at Draycote Water on Sunday 3 May. However the three boats that went out for the first race enjoyed the blustery conditions and battled their way around the course. Richard Knight in his Dart 15 gave the other two boats a head start in practice for Monday’s Pursuit Race! William in his Pico gave Nigel and Aaron Davis a good race up the first beat. They then pulled away quickly in their RS500 only to come undone after the gybe mark with a series of capsizes. William sailed past them only to follow suit with his own capsize. Meanwhile Richard sailed past in his Dart and led the way round to take the finishing gun.

After less than ideal conditions for the first three Get Racing sessions this year, champagne conditions with fair winds and sun have been booked for the next session on Sunday 7 June. All novice and junior members who are keen to start racing should make a note in their diary and turn up at 10.00am rigged and ready.
