Sunday the 19th April saw 15 Cadets taking part in the Fisher Green Cadet Open, sponsored by Exe Sails. The sun wasn't out much, but that's not really a requirement for the Cadets. The wind (which is) held at a steady Force 3.

The warning signal for Race 1 was at 11:00am, preceded by registration and bacon butties! With a great start and local knowledge Lucy Corby and Oliver Payne (9964) led the way. Repeating this in Race 2 they led into the lunch break with a healthy lead over Tom Collyer and Cara Bland (8846) and Archie Penn and Hazel Whittle (9983).

After curry and cake the Cadet Support crews (the parents) ensured a prompt start to the afternoon racing. Having got a feeling for the course Archie and Hazel led the fleet in Race 3 with Race 4 going to Tom and Cara. A discard kicking in with Race 4 ensured a close finish in the overall results.

Leading the way for Fisher's Green home fleet were Aaron Chadwick and Ayisa Burke in 6th place. With Archie and Hazel taking 3rd place and first Under 15 trophy. Tom and Cara took 2nd leaving Lucy and Oliver the 2015 Champions for the second year running.

I'd like to make a special mention (and thanks) to all those travelling across the country to the Open and to Ben and Noah Williams who aged 11 and 9 took the well- deserved U13 Trophy.
