British 420 Teams for Worlds in Japan and Europeans in Bulgaria selected

GBR 420s team to compete in World Championships at 2020 Olympic Yachting Venue

The class has selected ten boats to represent Great Britain at the World Championship in 2015. The event will be held at the 2020 Olympic venue Castle Bay, Karatsu, Japan from 17 July to 25 July.

The GBR team is:

  • Max Clapp and Ross Banham (Royal Southern YC)
  • Isabel Davies and Gemma Keers (Itchenor SC)
  • Sarah Norbury and Mari Davies (South Staffordshire SC and Pwhelli SC)
  • Jenny Smallwood and Danielle Thomas (Datchet Water SC and Royal Lymington YC)
  • Katie Davies and Grace Summers (Itchenor SC and Emsworth SC)
  • Alex Platt and Ryan Orr (Restronguet Sailing club and Royal Lymington YC)
  • James Clemetson and Sam Smith (Staunton Harold SC and Treaddur Bay SC)
  • Rebecca Stevens and Niamh O Neill (Restronguet SC)
  • Jo Kalderon and Midge Watkins (Itchenor SC and Poole YC)
  • Fenella Bennett and Emily Gent (Royal Lymington YC)
The team will be headed by RYA coach Alistair Dickson who will be supported by RYA Youth coaches Jonny Mcgovern and Steve Irish.

GBR 420s team to compete in Junior European Championships at Port Bourgas, Bulgaria

The class has selected ten boats to represent Great Britain at the World Championship in 2015. The event will be held at the Yacht Club, Port Bourgas, Bulgaria from 8 August to 15 August.

The GBR team is:

  • Max Clapp and Ross Banham (Royal Southern YC and Bewl Valley SC) Isabel Davies and Gemma Keers (Itchenor SC) Martin Wrigley and Marcus Tressler (Rutland SC) Jo Burns and Matt Shorrock (Spinnaker SC and French and Pond SC) Sarah Norbury and Mari Davies (South Stafford SC and Pwhelli SC) Jenny Cropley and Emma Baker (Royal Lymington YC and Bewl Valley SC) Dan Atherton and Matt Viney (Gurnard SC and Cardiff Bay SC) Robbie King and Alex King (Warsash SC and Royal Lymington YC) Katie Davies and Grace Summers (Itchenor SC and Emsworth SC) Alex Smallwood and James Scott (Datchet Sailing Club) The team will be headed by RYA Double Handed Pathway Manager Roy McCubbin supported by RYA Youth coaches Jonny McGovern and Neil Marsden.

    About the GBR 420 class

    The International 420 is a two person dinghy supported by the RYA’s Youth Sailing program as a pathway class to the Olympic sailing classes. Each year, the GBR 420 class selects their international teams through a number of spring selector events to represent Great Britain in the World and European championships.
