10-11 January 2015
The RS Tera North Squad start the second half of their winter coaching this weekend and with the forecast predicting some strong winds the coaching team are busy preparing to share heavy weather techniques and planning some land based activities too!
The 20 strong squad have already had 5 days of coaching, based at Derwent Reservoir SC and now the post Christmas coaching moves on to the hopefully calmer waters of Ripon SC and Leigh and Lowton SC. Head Coach Brett Cokayne is being supported by a fantastic team comprising Bernard Clark, Katy Phillips and Alistair Scott all of whom are equally enthusiastic about the squad and the coaching being delivered.
This weekend will include a presentation on 'where next' by Chris Blackburn, the RYA's Regional HPM designed to help the older helms focus on what options there are within and outside the RYA pathway for their next sailing experiences, and 'The Worlds 2015' by Regional RS Tera rep Jennie Clark, designed to provide information on the RS Tera World Championships which are being hosted in Holland in July. Jennie will be supported in her presentation by parents and sailors who so enjoyed the European Champs held at the same Bruinisse venue last year. The aim of this presentation is to share knowledge and experiences and answer questions from interested parties. Numbers planning to attend from the northern clubs are already into double figures so it's looking good for a great team event.
