After the excitement of having the 2014 Worlds in Weymouth last August it would be easy to assume that the UK Cadet Class is looking forward to a quiet year in 2015. However, nothing could be further from the truth! A packed schedule sees the class looking forward to its usual excellent range of events for all levels of junior sailors.

At Frensham Pond in Surrey Saturday Cadet training begins as early as 3rd January, while many of the East coast sailors will be converging on Alton Water on Sundays for the beginning of the Frostbite series sponsored by Fox's Marine and Country, which runs until March. Over the weekend of 24th/25th January the first of the year's squad training weekends takes place at Datchet Water, and for many this will be the beginning of their campaign towards the World Team selector series in the spring and the 2015 Worlds on Lake Garda at the end of July.

New sailors can take advantage of the great training programmes around the country run by clubs including Burnham Otters, Frensham Pond, Fisher's Green, South Cerney, Stone, Waldringfield and West Kirby, while the class's popular 'New Helm Training' weekends take place at Datchet 21st/22nd February and 28th/29th March.

With new glass-fibre boats being built again in the UK by Synergy Marine and good availability of second-hand boats there has never been a better time for junior sailors to join the class. All are promised a warm welcome! More details on the website, www.cadetclass.org.uk
