Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club welcomes the RS Tera Northern squad and RYA Optimist North Zone squad for their first winter training weekend.

Derwent Reservoir Sailing Club, which frequently plays host to National Level sailing events, was this weekend hosting training for thirty two potential World Champions. Both the RS Tera Northern Squad, and the RYA North Optimist Zone Squad were in action, honing their skills in preparation for next years competitive sailing season.

The keen and capable youngsters from all parts of the Northern England Wales and Scotland, were coached by a team of world-class race coaches in near perfect sailing conditions on Saturday. On Sunday morning the Teras on the water and Oppies on shore honoured a 1 minute silence in remembrance before continuing with light wind training!

Both fleets will be continuing their advanced training in the coming weeks at Derwent Reservoir and other venues. We can expect great things from these hardy juniors in the coming years. Present champions take note!
