Musto Skiff ACO German Open Ammersee

The sailing season 2014 is ending and the German Musto Skiff Class Association hosted the ACO German Open 2014 in Utting on the Ammersee one. An international starting field from Germany, England, Switzerland and Austria with 27 participants sailed in four days to find the new German Open winner.

The first day began with calm and the "AP" flag. At 12:30 clock but the switch was turned over and it began a steady wind from the northeast. It began with a series of four fast and exciting race against the impressive backdrop of the Ammersee. The day was marked by frequent leadership changes and tactical finesse, as the wind sometimes before sharing the right, sometimes the left side of the course. Iver Ahlmann (GER 495), who had convinced earlier this year with a 2nd place at the Kieler Woche, came with conditions along best, increased from run to run, and took the positions 7, 2, 2 and 1 the lead, closely followed by Roger Oswald (SUI 436) and Nicolas Duchoud (SUI 470).

The second day began with fog, cold and no wind, and only at 12:00 clock showed sun and the wind first. A first race had to be canceled due to unsteady conditions. The second attempt succeeded, and use this opportunity Duchoud to take a victory by the top of the standings. The black flag at the next start fell three MustoSkiffs victim, but it should no longer play a role - against sunset and at einschlafendem wind had to be canceled the race. The day's events were discussed at a barbecue in the shipyard stone Lechner until late into the night.

Despite ready to start from 7:30 clock and the Saturday and Sunday should not allow more races - the class took advantage of the lull to demonstrate extensively on land maneuver and trim on the quick single-handed skiff to mitzugeben Tips and Tricks in particular the beginners. A visit to the Kosters Andechs and brewery took care of the mental balance.

So it was the result for the Friday - Nicolas Duchoud win the German Open 2014 Iver Ahlmann and Alexander Greil (SUI 306). Duchoud crowned with the victory of a very successful season in which he last import a 5th place at the UK Nationals and a victory at the Dutch Open Skiff.

The ACO German Open 2014 were also the third event of the German Circuit 2014 with a narrow margin itself Iver Ahlmann won the title against European champion Frithjof Schwerdt and Bernd Jahn.
