Bart's Bash at Waldringfield Sailing Club

by Simon Cox 25 Sep 2014 14:31 BST 21 September 2014

Waldringfield Sailing Club combined its annual Adnams Trophy with the inaugural Bart's Bash on Sunday 21st September. Conditions on the day were near perfect with blue skies, a high tide and a Force 3-4 blowing from the north allowing for a great round-the-island course.

The 31 boat fleet consisting of a plethora of classes set off at 10am. Whilst it was supposed to be a fun race, the thought of the crate of Adnams bitter at the prize giving ensured there was plenty of scrapping for the victory. At the end the smart money was on the Wayfarer of John Haile, or perhaps the Lark of Ian & Alyson Videlo. But to the surprise of the OK fleet, who had been having an intense battle between themselves around the course, Simon Cox took the victory.

Diana Pipe, who knew Bart, paid tribute to him at prize-giving. Prizes were presented by witness, District Councillor Veronica Falconer. To date club members have donated over £250 and with more to come!

Overall Results: (top three)

1st OK 2171, Simon Cox
2nd Wayfarer 10588, John Haile
3rd Lark 2483, Ian & Alyson Videlo

1st Ladies Trophy - Fiona Gray
1st Juniors Trophy - Alex Eaton & Ethan Davey
1st Novices Trophy - Lia Fletcher
