67th Poole Week Regatta at Parkstone Yacht Club

Sailors at Parkstone Yacht Club's 67th Poole Week Regatta had a mix of weather which tended to favour the lighter crews. The event was sailed from two courses - Parkstone's recently refurbished platform in the middle of the harbour, run by Race Officer Bob Jennings, looked after the Shrimpers, Wayfarers, Dolphins, Merlins, RS400s and Handicap classes, while the other Bob (Moberly) ran the XODs, Lasers, RS200s and Flying 15s from Committee Boat Ron Cox.

This is the second year Parkstone have run Poole week as a 4 day regatta over the Bank Holiday Weekend. The format seems to appeal to lots of sailors, who no longer want to take a week off work.

Lots of people shared the silverware, with every race winner getting one of Parkstone's famous drinks mats, and the winner of race 7 a 'Winners' rugby shirt provided by sponsors Towergate Insurance.

Perhaps the most impressive performance was that of 18 year old Giles Kuzyk, who won the 35 strong laser fleet after facing some serious competition from the rest of the fleet. He also won Parkstone's Youth week in August - all in all, a good month for him!
