Isle of Sheppey Sailing Club's Round the Island Race on Saturday

A 40-mile clockwise circumnavigation of Kent's Isle of Sheppey, the IOS Round the Island Race is open to all classes of dinghy, catamaran and sailboard.

The race was established in 1959 as an endurance event and regularly attracts an entry of 100+ boats. Including sea, river and estuary sailing in tidal conditions, it is a real test of seamanship and boat-handling skills whilst being accessible to all.

Whether you treat it as a competitive race or a fun day out (or both!), all are welcome to what one competitor from last year described as 'a real tick in the box of life!'.

A perfect Saturday is followed by an atrocious Sunday As dawn broke on the tropical island of the Sheppey located in the Thames Estuary, a clear sky and gorgeous 8kts of wind greeted our visitors.
