Miracle National Championship at Hunstanton Sailing Club - Day 1

17-22 August 2014
The fleet converged at Hunstanton Sailing Club at 9am to be met with a stiff on shore breeze with the rollers breaking over the sea wall. The planned 11am practice race was postponed to allow the tide to retreat so there was a beach to launch off.
Due to the direction of the wind and the high spring tide this took quite some time. Once the tide turned we were hoping the water would flatten out, in reality the wind increased and so did the waves. Many crews had decided to call it a day, worried about damaging their boats launching and recovering.
The upper published wind limit had been exceeded and it was decided to postpone until Monday. A high wind weather warning has been issued during the night into Monday morning, so we shall have to wait and see.
