RS Tera Northern Travellers' Series – Update

12 July 2014
There's just a week to go until the final meeting of the 2014 RS Tera Northern Travellers series and with 58 competitors having taken part in the series it's been a great year afloat. The final meeting will be hosted by South Windermere SC on 12 July and we expect to see close competition throughout the fleet as helms jockey for their final positions in the series.
In the Sport fleet Roscoe Martin (Ogston SC) narrowly leads from Henry Rastrick (Ripon SC), with Jamie Rastrick currently lying 3rd. Nine helms have already qualified for the series and will use the SWSC to give themselves a discard, and another 9 will qualify if they take part.
In the Pro fleet the battle for first place is between Peter Owen (Derwent Reservoir SC) and Alistair Scott (Ripon SC). Mark Donald (DRSC) is lying 3rd. There are another five helms who can qualify if they join in the SWSC event.
Northern squad Coach Bernard Clark is going to be out and about at the event coaching those who are new to racing – the provision of a coach at each open event has been fundamental in encouraging younger and less experienced helms to 'give it a go' and it's great to see them develop.
So it's all to play for, and with every helm who qualifies guaranteed a prize – thanks go to Magic Marine and Mike Saul Dinghy Services for their generous sponsorship of the series – it's going to be a cracking event.
The fleet will take a break over the first few weeks of the summer holidays but then it's back to racing with a vengeance, with a Coaching Camp being run at Derwent Reservoir on 18, 19 and 20 August with Northern Squad Coach Brett Cokayne (details about this, and how to sign up for it are on the DRSC website) followed by the RS Tera Nationals at Derwent Reservoir which start on 22 August. More details on that on the rstera.org.uk website.
