Bart's Bash, the world record-breaking attempt to hold the largest sailing race ever in aid of the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation will be held on the 21st September 2014.
The 2000 dinghy class association would like to play their part in making the event a success and supporting this important cause. The Association will donate the whole membership fee of any one joining or renewing their membership between now and Bart's Bash to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation.
In addition the Association has teamed up with LDC Sailing in an effort to get "2000 x 2000s" on the water for Bart's Bash. LDC Sailing have generously donated a prize fund meaning we are able to offer a prize of £125 LDC Sailing vouchers to the 2000 club fleet with the most class association members taking part and £75 in LDC Sailing vouchers to the club with the second most. There will also be an individual prize of £50 in LDC Sailing vouchers for the top 2000 sailed by a class association member in the overall results.
The Bart's Bash organisers responded in saying:
"We are delighted that the class association and LDC Sailing are getting behind this massive event. The sign ups have only just started and we have hundreds of individuals entered. It will be great to see different classes trying to engage their members. 2000 x 2000's, who knows where it will go!
With the class associations and the trade getting actively involved with the event, we can make it memorable for everyone and hopefully draw more people into the sport that we all love so much."
