The second Blackpool and Fylde RC Laser open club event at Fairhaven Lake was well attended with good A rig conditions. The sometimes fluky winds made for some enjoyable sailing. Following an extended tuning period, racing got underway.
Shaun Holbeche was kind enough to act as OOD and also pass on invaluable advice to the less experienced sailors amongst us, both on setup and trimming and on how to get the best out of the boats during the races.
After 9 races the result was very close and came down to a third place countback. Well done Tony Wilson, just pipping Fleetwood colleagues Jim Lydon and Eric Reid for first overall. Best B&F finish went to Rob Wheeler in 4th place.
A race within a race for the smaller classes resulted in Malcolm Frary splitting the RG65 sailors Chris Chackfield and Tim Lanigan with his Victoria.
The Nationals are being held at Fleetwood on 19th and 20th July and this club series has proved useful preparation for skippers. Further details can be found here.
