International Canoe National Championships at the WPNSA - Day 2

by Gareth Caldwell 15 Jun 2014 21:27 BST 14-16 June 2014

With the ladies having made the most of the liquid hospitality and sunshine delivered on day 1, it was the turn of the gentlemen to enjoy the excellent sailing conditions served by WPNSA on day 2.

Steve 'Twisted' Bowen made the most of Tony 'Crunchy' Robertshaw's untimely retirement to sneak into first place in the AC fleet. Robin 'Wriggly' Wood, fuelled by the local ale from the night before, continued to show his dominance in the IC fleet...which was obviously helped by people wantin to give him a wide berth! Alistair Warren and Colin Brown made sure he was kept on his toes and he had to work hard for his first places.

Thank you to the excellent race management who ensured quick turn around of the races, and organisation of the sailors(!). With the final two races tomorrow morning, Carol Ellis will have her work cut out tonight at the BBQ to ensure that John 'Horizon' Ellis keeps a clear head and has a chance of securing a top three place.
