Global sailing brand to supply prizes to Royal Western Yacht Club of England B&G, world-leading manufacturer of sailing instruments and navigation systems, is pleased to announce that it is to be the official equipment partner for the 2014 Round Britain and Ireland Race.

The yacht race, which begins on the 1st June 2014, involves two-handed crews and comprises of sailing around Britain and Ireland. The race both starts and finishes in Plymouth and involves compulsory 48-hour stops in Kinsale, Barra, Lerwick and Lowestoft.

Fondly known as the RB&I, the race runs on a four-year cycle and has been in existence since 1966. It is regarded as a serious test of endurance for crew, boats and equipment. B&G will provide sailing marine electronics as prizes for the event as recognition for racing performance, seamanship and sportsmanship displayed by competitors.

Jim Deheer, Global B&G Brand Director said: "Over its 48 year history, this race has earned a reputation as a tough test for boats and their equipment. It is also well known for camaraderie amongst the competitors. This reflects B&G's ethos of passion for sailing and belief in teamwork.

We are delighted to support the Round Britain & Ireland Race and wish all of the sailors taking part the very best of luck and fair winds!"

Royal Western Yacht Club, organisers of the RB&I, recently announced that the RNLI would be the charity partner for the event, reflecting the importance of the lifeboat stations in each of the stopover ports, B&G will be supporting that partnership as well as the race itself.
