There was much discussion in the week prior to Ripon Sailing Club's Solo open last Saturday. Some of it was about how great the new clubhouse was which has been totally refurbished and now puts many of the nearby hotels in posh Harrogate to shame. Others were worried that the long range forecast would be too windy for some where as class representative Andrew Hague was having sleepness nights worrying whether or not all his meticulous planning would pay off.

As it turned out the weather was a comfortable 12 knots from the east for most of the day allowing use of all the lake and everything ran without a single hitch. 15 Solo helms from Ripon welcomed two visiting helms and Race 1 saw both visitors lead all the local helms home with Chris Robinson from Burwain SC leading Stephen Graham from Blackpool & Fleetwood over the line with Ripon's Dan Phillips 3rd in a borrowed club Solo!

Stephen Graham won Race 2 with Ripon's Ian Smith taking 2nd ahead of Chris Robinson in 3rd setting up an important final race which was won by Stephen Graham ahead of Chris Robinson and Ian Smith.

So it was then that overall the visiting helms Stephen Graham and Chris Robinson led Ian Smith in 3rd place all of whom received generously donated prizes from Pinnell and Bax.

The club would like to thank sponsors P&B and everyone who contributed to a great event. Ripons Sailing Club has an active open series through out the year details of which can be found at www.ripon-sc.org.uk or on the club's facebook, twitter or instagram pages.
