Gul National 12 Series finale at Northampton Sailing Club this Saturday

by Tom Stewart 4 Nov 2013 17:33 GMT 9 November 2013

The final leg of the generously sponsored National 12 Gul series takes place at Northampton Sailing Club on this Saturday with two races from three to count.

The races also form part of the Inland championships with two further races on Sunday. The best four from the five will decide who is the 2013 Inland Champion.

It should be a cracking weekend's sailing as Northampton is a great place to sail and a very friendly club with great caterers.

For many this will be the last event of the year and is usually well supported, providing a high level of competition throughout the fleet.

Tom Stewart and Andrea Ralph will be trying to stop Graham Camm and Zoe Ballantyne from getting the win they need to snatch the series away from them.

Jon Ibbotson and Charlotte Stewart should be safe in third place for the Gul series and can concentrate on trying to win the Inlands.

It is close for fourth place with Nick Copsey and Stephen Carver trying to fend off Steve and Joanne Sallis and Christian Day and Sophie Richards.

Steve and Joanne will be hoping that there is no repeat of the car trouble which caused Joanne to miss the Grafham event and left them counting a tenth place.

Tom Lee and Helen Chapman are almost assured of the Admirals cup section if they turn up but if not will open the door for Neal and Freya Lillywhite to snatch victory.

The Family section is led by Ed Storey with Tom and Ellen. and will need only to turn up to claim victory. Again it is Neal and Freya in second place.

The Junior section has been won by Nick and Stephen who can concentrate on trying to hold on to fourth place in the main event.

The biggest winner could be anyone who has competed in a Gul event this year with excitement mounting as the day of the draw gets closer. Each Gul event entry is an entry into the draw to win an amazing weekend away at the spectacular Watergate Bay Hotel in Cornwall.

Many thanks to Gul for this special prize and for the generous prizes given at all the Gul events this year.
