Through the valued support of Sport England and the John Merricks Sailing Trust, six new Topper dinghies have been purchased by Midland Sailing Club to help develop the confidence and sailing ability of the club's youth section and new adult sailors who want to further develop their skills following completion of the Start Sailing Course.
All six dinghies were launched at the club's Family and Friends Day on Sunday 21st July 2013 to the delight of our young and older members alike.
Club Commodore Trevor Pearson enthused, "It's a wonderful sight to see these boats on the water and we are excited by the potential they offer in developing the sailing abilities of our new adult and younger sailors."
The club hope that the new boats will encourage more youngsters to participate in sailing by attending its juniors sailing sessions that take place on Saturday mornings throughout the year.
The next adult start sailing course commences on Friday 30th August, details can be found at our website www.midlandsailingclub.org/training
If you think sailing might be for you, why not come along and give it a go.
