RC Laser Championship of Nations - Day 1

The inaugural Championship of Nations hosted by West Lancs Yacht Club, The home of the famous 24 hour race, Commenced on the 21st July 2013, with competitors from UK, Holland, France, USA and Australia.

Racing commenced using the HMS flight scoring system, With the wind in the east it allowed the OD Clive Porter to set a long figure 8 course with a perfect beat, with 'B' sailings being the choice of the race, the B flight seeding race started this historic event.

This was won by Shaun Holbeche(GBR), second Julien Drouillot(FRA) and Dave Bedford(AUS). The second seeding race was won by Dave Fowler(GBR) second Taco Fabern(NED) and third Marc Albiges(FRA)

With the seeding now sorted the main races started, the morning was dominated by Holbeche with him gaining 2 bullets, Neil Coleman(GBR) and Albiges following in second place respectively.

After lunch Fowler's mojo returned, with him gaining the next 3 bullets with Albiges two seconds and Fabern(NED) one. The last race of the day was sailed in 'C' sails and was won by Fabern(NED) with Albiges in second.

With a race within a race for the Johnson family The wind was blowing from the clubhouse direction for the ten RC Laser entries. It looked to be a stock 'B' rig all-dayer, but with the light patch at the entry point, a bit of extra sail cloth helps you get through the lulls. Posted on 6 Oct 2024
RC Laser Summer 2 Series at Fleetwood week 2
