The Impala 28 class is delighted to announce that its 34th Nationals will be held in Weymouth as part of Weymouth Keelboat Regatta from the 16 – 18 August this year.

The biggest entry in two decades is expected, with up to 20 boats planning to make the trip to the waters where last year's Olympics were held.

The schedule includes something for everyone: a long coastal race on the Friday, followed by two days of round-the-cans racing in Weymouth Bay. Boats will raft up overnight in the cove, with a packed social programme ashore in the evenings and a chance to catch up with fellow crews in friendly surroundings.

There are lift-in offers available for those wanting to transport their boat by road, and the class has negotiated cheap moorings for competitors during the event.

The Impala fleet is undergoing a strong resurgence along the south coast, with growing fleets in the Solent, in Poole and in Plymouth. There are also fleets in Scotland, in the Bristol Channel, in Wales and on the Humber. Owners old and new continue to appreciate the close one-design racing, competitive IRC performance and good value that owning an impala brings.

The list of event sponsors will be announced soon. Come and join the biggest gathering of impalas for many years. Let the class association know if you're planning on coming – email
