Mirrors were in short supply on the River Deben at Waldringfield Sailing Club's Easter Egg Open held on Good Friday and Easter Saturday. The cold weather put off most of the club's 25-strong fleet of young Mirror sailors and so the trophy was contested by only two boats.

Sisters Eleanor & Imogen Bellfield from Itchenor SC sailed in Scarlet Monkey and Julian Rains with his daughter Alice sailed in the MCA's demonstration Winder Mirror. Scarlet Monkey was never troubled and led the way in each race to take the overall honours. Counting both Mirrors & Cadets, there were 20 junior boats coping with the bitter north-easterly winds that reached force 5 and brought occasional snow falls.

With 60 entries across Mirror, Cadet, Lark, Laser, Wayfarer, Firefly & OK, it was an excellent event; thanks must go to the race committee, safety boat crews and to The Angel in Woodbridge for hosting a lively social on Good Friday.

WSC's next Open is its regatta on 28th, 29th and 30th June to which it welcomes all Mirror visitors for hopefully some much warmer racing, beach games for adults and children and two evening events both with food and live music.
