Competition is really heating up as we head in to the third phase of the 2013 RYA Dinghy Show SailX Championship, the virtual fleet-race regatta taking place in the lead up to the RYA Dinghy Show 2013, on the award-winning, sailboat racing simulation, SailX.com.

Yesterday (18 February) marked the start of Phase 3 of the Championship – the final and most significant phase by far, with 70-80% of the points still up for grabs. The competition is extremely intense as individual racers compete for the '2013 Virtual Endeavour Trophy' and classes compete for the '2013 RYA Dinghy Show SailX Championship Trophy'.

Even if you haven't taken part so far there is still time to sign up and with so many points available, latecomers still have every chance to compete.

Each day SailX will host three, 5-race, regattas taking place at 1800, 2000, 2200 GMT. You only need to complete three regattas over the entire two-week period to gain maximum points – so there's plenty of opportunity to get those vital points. But beware; racing is extremely competitive so it's best to get started as soon as possible.

The individual winner of the RYA Dinghy Show SailX Championship 2012 will not only receive a selection of great prizes (full list to be announced) but they will also be the recipient of the Virtual Endeavour Trophy, which has been especially commissioned for the championship by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, Burnham-on-Crouch.

Edwin Buckley, custodian of the Endeavour Trophy, explains why they got involved: "When SailX was shown to us we immediately thought it was a very interesting concept that a game could be both enjoyable and also valuable as a teaching and training tool. Very quickly we saw that the game was valuable to competitive sailors at all levels - even at the highest level - we were delighted to endorse it and to create the Virtual Endeavour Trophy together with SailX."

Amando Estela, creator of SailX commented: "Following the success of last year's competition it's great to be back with the support of the RYA and the Royal Corinthian. It's an honour to be associated with the Endeavour Trophy and we look forward to seeing the awarding it to a very deserving individual winner once again"
