Entries now open for National 12 Burton Week 2013 at Brixham Yacht Club

by Chris Day 12 Feb 2013 07:59 GMT 25-28 May 2013

Entries are now open for Burton 2013, the National 12 Class Championships, including the prestigious Burton Cup race, which has been run since 1936.

The championships will be held over four days at Brixham Yacht Club on the late May Bank Holiday Weekend (25th to 28th May). Brixham provides everything you could wish for from a national championships: an experienced race team, a superb sailing area, easy launching and an exciting line up of socials. Over the weekend we'll be taking in Tor Bay on a boat trip, dressing up as a boat name or design and dancing to a live band, and getting formal for the annual Burton dinner.

This year we'll be mixing up the fleet with a new buddy system, and a whole range of National 12 designs will be competing in the racing including the latest t-foilers, middle-aged boats competing for the Admiral's Cup and clinker built vintage designs. Even if you don't have a 12 you can still take part as there are plenty of opportunities to crew in or borrow a 12 for the competition.

Entry for the whole event is only £100 and if you enter before the Dinghy Show there is a chance to win a brand new jib, courtesy of Pinnell & Bax. If you're an under 21 helm, it's only £60 to enter and all junior sailors will receive a free Burton 2013 t-shirt.

You can download your entry form now on the National 12 website, where you'll also find the Notice of Race and lots of information about everything 12 related.

If you are interested in borrowing a 12, would like to crew, or need another crew member for your boat please get in touch with the class chairman, Christian Day, email
