25-26 August 2012
The National 12s are looking forward to their summer event at Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club on 25th and 26th August. The event is part of the Gill Series and will offer competition for all types of National 12 from the t-foiling to the Admiral's Cuppers. Leigh and Lowton are especially looking forward to welcoming the vintage 12 fleet who will be competing for the unique Shotgun Trophy – which is the original transom from the eponymous boat.
The summer event will include the annual pursuit race where the oldest 12 designs get a head start on their modern counterparts to see which design (and sailor) comes out on top. Crews will also have the opportunity to grasp the tiller from their helms in the crews' race with helms getting a taste of their own medicine as they take up the jib sheets!
The event is ideal for anyone looking to attend their first Gill event and will also provide the opportunity to try out different 12 designs. And of course no summer event would be complete without a BBQ and a few beers whilst the sun sets!
