Day 4 for the Victory Class have seen the appearance of light winds and strong tides all too synonymise with Cowes Week. Such conditions turn the traditionally designed boats into one of the most challenging of all the classes; winning can be both test of skill and a mark of luck.
Today's conditions proved this to be all too true. The first leg of the race saw the fleet punching the last of the ebb tide to take them east of the Squadron line before turning north towards the mainland side at Sunsail Racing.
The light and variable winds saw Z49, Z38 and Z57 battling for the front position. However, returning to the scene of the crime from the previous day at Norris Point, saw multiple changes before Z78 again crossed the line just ahead of fleet.
The final twist to the day came when nine of the boats competing were made aware that they were over the line at the start and thus disqualified. Well done to Z78 Jim Dowing, Mark and Jo Dennington for 4 in a row.
