Celebrating 25 years of the Hurricane 5.9 catamaran

by Kylie Jenkins 22 Feb 2012 19:19 GMT Stand B24, 3-4 March 2012

This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Hurricane 5.9 catamaran, visit the stand at the RYA Dinghy Show and find out more about one design catamaran racing and how to join one of the friendliest classes on the circuit.

Designed and built by renowned boat builder and Olympic and World champion - Reg White in Brightlingsea, the Hurricane 5.9 has gone on to be a popular and inexpensive choice for one design sailing. Despite the current economic turndown the class enjoys a huge number of events across the year with sailors regularly travelling huge distances to take part.

Hurricanes have also been a regular sight at some of the world's biggest catamaran events including the Aruba Heineken Regatta, Zwitserleven Ronde de Texel, East Coast Three Piers Race, Carnac, The Forts Race and the Solent Slog.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary we would like to invite you to take a test sail with John Ready, the Class Associations official trainer and experience the thrill of one design fast catamaran sailing and see why it is still such a popular choice of boat.

If you are attending the Dinghy Show visit us on stand B24 or look for the tallest mast and head for it!
