Fantastic initial response to River Hamble Games

by Louise Craigen 2 Feb 2012 13:17 GMT 21 July 2012

Organisers of the River Hamble Games have been delighted with the initial response to their event. There are currently 14 out of a maximum 20 teams having registered interest and they are rapidly confirming their places. There are still spaces for teams to enter as well as individual competitors to enter to join a team where some teams are not quite fully subscribed.

The countdown is now on and training has started for those teams registered. Registration is online at www.riverhamblegames.com. The cost is £10 per competitor and just £5 for Under 16s which includes a team T-shirt.

The organisers are also looking for anyone who wants to be involved in a non-sporting way and help with the event on the day. There are also opportunities for local businesses to be involved too. Any individual or business interested should contact us via our website.

Hear what people have to say about this event...

Susie Tomson “The Organising Committee”:
‘We hope to see as many people as possible competing and having fun. This is a one day event inspired by London 2012 that brings high performance sport to the River and is an opportunity to bring together all the sport / recreation clubs and interests on the River. We hope to inspire kids and adults to get involved in sport and recreation on the River and we think this event will be a fantastic way to do this’.

David Evans, Marine Director and Harbour Master:
This is potentially the largest sporting event we have ever seen on the River and should be a fantastic day for sport and for the River Hamble.
