Albacore Nationals at Llandudno Sailing Club - Day 2

by Mike Banner/Jerry Rook on 4 Jul 2011

The sun stayed strong and the wind light but just enough to get three races in on Day 2 of the Albacore Nationals at Llandudno SC in North Wales.

Each of the three races saw plenty of place changes with one mistake easily costing 5 places in the competitive fleet. Races 3 and Race 5 were won by Tom Gillard & Andy Elliot with Barney Harris& David Byron taking the 4th. Weed on the board or rudder was a problem in quite a few areas of the course on top of the risk of sunburn!

Overall Tom Gillard and Andrew Elliot lead ahead of Barney Harris and David Byron (who are also counting an unheard of 10th) with Nev Herbert and Mark Fowler in third. The event concludes on Monday with the weather forecast indicating more of the same.

Results after Day 2: (top 10, 5 races, 1 discard)

1st Tom Gillard & Andy Elliot
2nd Barney Harris & David Byron
3rd Nev Herbert & Mark Fowler
4th John & Paul Gimson
5th Michael McNamara & Flip Foulds
6th Judy & Paul Armstrong
7th Phil Smith & Steve Graham
8th Rob Lyne & Pete Grey
9th Norman Halstead & Sue Morris
10th Matt Potter & Nicola Ogden
