Sonata National Championships at Dabchicks Sailing Club

by Rachel Gozzett 28 Jun 2011 20:28 BST 6-10 June 2011

The Sonata National Championships were held at Dabchicks Sailing Club (West Mersea) from the 6th to 10th June.

Sixteen teams turned up with boats from all over the UK including Whitby, Poole, Medway and the furthest travelled from Aberdeen.

Racing was held in the waters of the Blackwater Estuary over a combination of windward -leeward and around the cans courses. The racing was closely fought throughout the fleet, the final race saw teams fighting for points over their closest rivals.

The 2011 National Champions are a Dabchicks team 'Camel Tow', with 'Selene' from Poole second, and 'BFG' from Medway third.

The social events were excellent with entertainment laid on every night of the week: with thanks to our sponsors Hyde Sails, G & G Gallo Enterprises Ltd, Insure-a-boat.com, and Fenn Wright.

Full race report and results can be found here.
