Action packed summer ahead for the Laser 5000 fleet

by Tom Hill 30 Apr 2011 17:01 BST

The Laser 5000 fleet have an action packed summer ahead of them, with 4 events spanning the UK.

This year kicked off with the association's first appearance at the dinghy show in a number of years. Many new faces came to see us, offering boats and spares, and some offering enthusiasm looking for a boat to sail.

The first event of the season was training at Grafham Water Sailing Club. 4 boats made it to the weekend and, as in years before, much was learnt from one another from sharing tips and sometimes even crews! A few new faces showed themselves adding to the growing fleet sizes.

The next event is our Open at Poole next weekend (7th and 8th of May), with a good turnout predicted, it will be a good run up to the Nationals at Filey (25th and 26th of June) to see who are this year's National Champion contenders. A special event is being held at Loch Lomond in Scotland (3rd and 4th of September) to bring the fleet to the home of the European Champions. The final event of the year is the Inlands (15th and 16th October) to round off the year and complete the 2011 circuit.

Many new boats have joined the association this year, and with others for sale, now is a great time to join the fleet. Any question please contact
