Datchet push the boat out
Datchet are inviting sailors to their month long “Winter Warm Up” in February. If you are a sea sailor looking to sharpen up for the spring, a pond sailor frozen off, or a asymmetric sailor looking for real windward/leeward racing, Datchet is the place for you!
The Winter Warm Up runs for the 4 Sundays in February - 6th, 13th, 20th & 27th. Two back to back races are planned for each Sunday morning with the first start at 10:25. 6 out of the 8 races will count – if all are sailed. There will be a competitors briefing at 9:45 on Sunday 6th.
Six starts are currently planned. The first three sail Triangle/Sausage courses; Lasers, Flying Fifteens and Fast Handicap. The second 3 sail Windward/Leeward courses; the Asymmetric Handicap, Catamarans and the Junior/Youth fleet.
We are expecting large fleets of Lasers (the home fleet are going through the “Activate your laser” programme), Flying Fifteens (our strongest fleet and we are expecting many visitors preparing for the 2011 Worlds at Hayling Island), Wayfarers, Contenders (our most successful fleet nationally), RS100s (our newest class), RS500s, RS800s, RS200s, 49ers, RS700s, Musto Skiffs, (all these 7 classes have been enjoying the new Winter skiff series at Datchet), 505s and Catamarans.
The Club will do its best to resist the effects of our new Arctic weather, and has good water level - hopefully to be added to in January. Being 70’ deep, the reservoir does not freeze.
