Baker Challenge Cup at Shanklin Sailing Club

by Ian Bolton 8 Apr 2009 08:03 BST 5 April 2009

Having missed out on the last four races due to lack of wind, Hope beach offered a fleet of thirteen Sprint 15s ready for the first cup race of the season.

The first race was for the Baker Cup and after a close start in light winds the finely tuned boat sailed by Keith Newnham, aptly named Old Gaffer Tape stretched to a convincing win. Erling Holmberg was second and Charlie Pierce stormed ahead of his dad to be placed third.
