Bewl Valley Sailing Club secures its long term future

by Judy Walker 20 Feb 2009 11:09 GMT

Bewl Valley Sailing Club and Kent Attractions are pleased to announce the signing of a 25 year lease.

BVSC is the largest inland dinghy sailing club in the south with over 1200 individual members. It has operated on the beautiful 770 acre Bewl Water on the Kent Sussex borders for over thirty years sharing the water with windsurfers, canoeists and rowers. After some years of uncertainty the lease gives long term security to the club.

Simon Hume Kendall, Chairman of Kent Attractions, says “We have come to know Bewl Valley Sailing Club and its officers extremely well over the course of these negotiations and we are delighted and honoured that they will be sharing our long term future at Bewl. We are sure that this agreement will allow the sailing club and other water users to flourish and develop their activities as they see fit over the years to come.”

Judy Walker Commodore Bewl Valley Sailing Club “We are very pleased to have concluded these negotiations and to have secured a long term future for the club. This now allows us to develop our facilities and activities on and off the water for the benefit of all our members. We are already one of the largest dinghy clubs in the country and this lease enables us to focus on encouraging both new and existing members to enjoy to the full a wonderful sport”
