by Mary Davies 23 Jun 2004 08:20 BST 19 June 2004

The 2004 Tideway Challenge meeting was held at Wimbleball Lake in Somerset on Saturday 19th June. The fleet assembled in bright and dry conditions with a steady Northerly wind, which freshened during the afternoon.

The first race was sailed over 3 laps of a course set using a large part of the lake and was won by Richard and Ben Lee chased by Mary Davies and Derek Morley.

After lunch there were two more races over a shortened course of two laps and which were sailed back to back and again both won by Richard and Ben Lee but chased by Mary Davies and Derek Morley.

The prize giving was held in the Wimbleball S.C. against the picturesque backdrop of the lake. The "Tideway Challenge Trophy" was awarded to Richard and Ben Lee, the "Rose Bowl" to Derek Morley as highest placed single-handed and "The John White Trophy" to James Chew as the highest placed under 18 helm. The TOA AGM followed the prize giving.
