See also: www.torbayweek.co.ukThis year sees the 5th annual Torbay Week sailing regatta, organised by the combined Yacht and Sailing Clubs of Torbay, and supported by the English Riviera Tourist Company and Torbay Harbour Authority.
Torbay has long been one of the most popular sailing venues in the UK with sheltered waters from the North, West and South. Torbay has hosted countless prestigious regattas, famously hosting the sailing for the 1948 Olympics. In modern times Babbacombe Corinthian Sailing Club, Brixham Yacht Club, Paignton Sailing Club and Royal Torbay Yacht Club have all hosted very professionally run major National and International regattas.
This year’s Torbay Week runs from Friday 24th to Wednesday 29th August, with 4 full days of sailing for keelboats and Dinghies. With daily prize givings being held in the various clubs (Brixham Yacht Club, Paignton Sailing Club and the Royal Torbay Yacht Club) around the bay, along with fine entertainment and social events every evening, this is shaping up to be a fantastic event.
Within 4 courses out in the bay, there will be several IRC fleets, non-rated yachts, Sonatas, Day Boats and Sportsboats as well as mixed dinghy handicap and junior dinghy fleets. Two National Championships are also planned as part of the event. The Notice of Race and Entry Forms can be downloaded from www.torbayweek.co.uk and the Sailing Instructions will follow shortly.
So if you are looking for a great fun, professionally run regatta with competitive sailing and great après-sail all in the beautiful English Rivera then Torbay Week is the regatta for you!
