Quite like this suggestion: is there more to it? Linked to the earlier Corrie reference to a Mirror, Geoffrey Hughes who played the Eddie Yates in that show (and Onslow from Keeping up Appearances) used to sail and would crop up occasionally in Y&Y, handing out prizes at his sailing club. He was on our screens over Christmas playing the Archangel Gabriel in the Liverpool Nativity.

Tht's more like - real, living, minor celebs who sail dinghies 'cos they like 'em, not because they want to be seen in something flash!

Lesley Joseph from Birds of a Feather is a member of my sailing club. Princess Anne owns a Rustler 36. At one point there were rumours of Sol Campbell joining our sailing club. |

Okies, I served Griff Rhys Jones (Soz about spelling!) his meal at a presentation evening at our yacht club, I used to sail with para olympic sailor and her sister and at our Optimist National Champs, Duran Durans drummer (Soz I'm too young to know his name!!) sailed straight through our course in his boat Drum!!
Also at the Americas cup the Spanish Princess was onboard Desafio for a race! The Spanish King is a keen sailor, his yacht club is not far from here either! Unfortunately I can't say that I have sailed with either of them though! Oh, forgot this part- I also used to sail with the sister of Griff' son pretty much every weekend with my brother! lol!
