Dear Recipient Name

The RYA Dinghy Show is the traditional marking of the start of the season and already the reports and now coming in thick and fast from Open Meetings up and down the country.

We're always so happy to receive your reports to hear the news from your club, so please keep sending them in to our email address, which goes to both the website and Yachts & Yachting magazine.

Submitting your reports

Please have a read of our guidelines on submitting reports here.

A quick refresh on the requirements can save everyone a huge amount of time and also ensure we can add your report to the website as promptly as possible.

Becoming a GJW Direct Introducer

GJW Direct Insurance are inviting clubs to potentially become introducers, where 10% of the policy price can go straight to your club. Introducer places are strictly limited, and certain criteria need to be fulfilled, but can become a valuable source of revenue for your club, which could be reinvested in club boats or training.

Two clubs which have become introducers are West Lancashire Yacht Club and South Caernarvonshire Yacht Club.

David Shiel of South Caernarvonshire YC said of the scheme, "The commission we earn from introducing club members to GJW Direct Insurance who take out a policy contributes to supporting our events and enhancing safety on the water."

Jerrold Carr of West Lancs YC adds, "We've had a long-term relationship with GJW Direct and their financial input helps enormously. We simply couldn't run events such as the 24 Hour Race without sponsorship and schemes such as this."

To find out more please contact Jeremy Entwistle at GJW Direct, email or call 07889 401056.

The Future of Sailing webinars

Over the past year Liz Rushall of Rushall Marketing, Mark Jardine, Editor of and, and Alistair Dickson from the RYA Sport Participation Team have run a series of webinars with the aim of increasing sailing participation, understanding the changing marketplace, and spreading the word on club initiatives and success stories, giving other clubs inspiration to boost numbers on the water and increase active membership. There are tons of great initiatives that clubs have implemented, such as apps to manage tasks and diversifying club activities, and these videos are well worth a watch.

You can view the full series, including The Future of Sailing Q&A held at the RYA Dinghy Show 2019 here.

The Calendar

If you are organising an open meeting or championship for your club, make sure it appears in our website fixtures list to maximise the number of sailors who are aware. We list upcoming events at the bottom of relevant race reports and news articles, plus the calendar section is directly viewed by thousands of people every month.

It takes very little time to do, and anyone can register to add events. Don't forget to publicise your club's general open day too. Anything open to non-members is suitable for this free publicity.

Wishing you a fantastic 2019 sailing season. Please feel free to email us via the email address if you have any questions. Please forward this on to any relevant contacts at your club who you think may find this information useful.

Best Regards
