94 days after starting, Ellen MacArthur, the 24 year old British sailor crossed the line in her Open 60 Kingfisher across the finish line.
Tens of thousands of cheering French spectators watched in the small Brittany coastal port of Les Sables d'Olonne as MacArthur finished, accompanied by bursts of flares and fireworks.
She takes second place in the epic 24,000 mile Vendee Globe 2000 - the single-handed, non-stop, around the world yacht race.
In doing so MacArthur broke a number of records...she is now the fastest women to single-handed cicrumnavigate, she is also the youngest finisher in the Vendee Globe and has second fastest single-handed circumnavigation.
