AYF Announces 2001 Australian Youth Team

The Australian Yachting Federation has today announced the members of the
2001 Australian Youth Team who have been nominated to represent their nation
at the 2001 Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in Crozon, France
from 2-12 July this year. The nominated athletes are:
Laser: Ben Lamb - Belmont 16 foot Skiff Sailing Club, NSW
Laser Radial: Riana Haldane - Port Lincoln Yacht Club, SA
420 Boys: Matthew Chew & James Seymour - Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron,
QLD
420 Girls: Melissa Bryant & Martha Leonard - South of Perth Yacht Club, WA
Hobie 16: Robbie Lovig & Glen Douglas - Westernport Yacht Club, VIC
Mistral Boys: Chris Lowbridge - Dobroyd Aquatic Club, NSW
Mistral Girls: Jacqui Bonnitcha, Hunters Hill Sailing Club, NSW

The only team members to have competed at the Youth World Championships
previously are the West Australian 420 girls, Melissa Bryant and Martha
Leonard. Bryant and Leonard put in an excellent performance in the 2000
Volvo Youth Sailing ISAF World Championship in Sydney at the end of last
year to win the Silver medal, having only sailed together for a short time
before the 2000 event.

The Youth Team will be supported by coaches Craig Ferris, Brendan Todd and
Paul Eldrid.
