Sydney 38 One Designs fighting to the end

by Rob Kothe on 4 Jan 2001
In what might be the first non-spinnaker long ocean race for many years, the second group of the Strathfield Pittwater to Coff's, the Sydney 38 fleet had another night of 30-35 knot winds.

Whereas the Sydney 40's and Farr 40's had separated from the pack with more favourable winds.

Approaching the finish Michael Jones's Obsession had clawed out a two mile lead over Rob MacMillian's Yeah Baby, with Matt Wenkes again renamed Advantage Mortgage, in company with Vaughan Stibbard and his seasoned crew on The Business.

The three crews exhausted from 44 hours of continues beating aboard Blowfly, Tassie 2 and The Big Picture are still fighting tack for tack, in their own private battle 4 miles after of the leading bunch.
