Plastic Surgeon stitches up opposition.
Sydney based plastic surgeon Howard De Torres' new IMX 40 'Nips 'n' Tux' stitched up some fancy opposition to win the 2000 Telstra Cup concluded yesterday.
The excellent result was further reinforced with Howard winning the IMS Owner Driver trophy.
Launched just 3 weeks ago, the Niels Jeppesen designed 40 footer showed great speed in all conditions to finish first in the Grand Prix IMS fleet. In the 7 race series conducted in winds varying from 8 or 9 knots, to over 30 knots in race 3 and 4,
Nips 'n' Tux finished with a score line of 1,5,2,3,2,2,1.
Nips 'n' Tux sail inventory included a complete set of D4 sails, designed and built by the Doyle-Fraser loft in Sydney. Doyle-Fraser staff supported the yacht, with Bob Fraser doing tactics and Mark Fullerton trimming together with Andrew Parkes (now with X-Yacht agents, North-South Yachting) and Brett Perry doing the bow work.
